The renewed clash, late Sunday night, between rival cult groups of Eiye and Aiye confraternities in Ijebu- Ode area of Ogun State, has left one person dead.
The deceased, identified as one Segun Adepona and a member of the Eiye cult group, was allegedly shot dead in the early hours of yesterday at Jogbo Street, off Ibadan garage in Ijebu Ode.
Our correspondent reliably gathered that the renewed fight, which started late Sunday evening, lasted till the wee hours of Monday when the rival group succeeded in hitting their target in Adepona.
National Mirror recalled that the two cult groups of Eiye confraternity that is popularly called the ‘Airlord’, and Aiye confraternity, also known as ‘Black Axe’, had, for the past two weeks, been locked in rivalry in which over 20 people have been feared killed, with about 10 others sustaining varying degrees of injuries.
During yesterday’s renewed fight however, it was gathered that the cultists started shooting sporadically around the Ibadan garage in Ijebu-Ode when the Muslim community was already observing Ramadan prayers.
The development was said to have sent jitters down the spines of the residents who hurriedly went indoors to prevent being caught out in the midst of the shootings.
