Four remanded in prison over forgery, cultism

Four middle aged men were on Monday remanded in prison custody by an Evboriaria Magistrate court for allegedly involving in forgery and cultism.

The accused persons, Ekomoba Abu, Ononiwu Samuel, Ehibor Austine and Nkwocha Emeka were arraigned on a five-count charge of forgery, unlawful possession of firearms, operating as members of black axe and committing Advance Fee Fraud, popularly known as 419.

They were also alleged to have forged sign up letters of the Nigeria Entertainment Music Board, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Visionaries Football Club of Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State.

The four persons were further accused of engaging in unlawful secret cult and firing gun shots to cause panic to members of the public.

Pleas of the accused were not taken, but trial Chief Magistrate, A.A Ihenyen remanded them in prison custody and adjourned the case till January 30, 2015.

He also ordered the court registrar to duplicate the case file and send copies to the Directorate of Public Prosecutor for legal advice.
