Delta police wage war against cult activities

NO fewer than eight cult suspects have been arrested at various locations in Warri, Delta State, between Tuesday July 7 and 8 by operatives of Quick Response Squad (QRS) in the command of the Nigeria Police.

The suspected cultists, according to information gathered, belonged to Aye Confraternity.

Among those arrested on Uti street in Warri at about midnight of July 7 were Emmanuel Ola (27) and Lucky Umukoro (27), both from Ikekweri-Otokutu in Ughelli South Local Government Area.

The suspects, who had confessed to being members of the cult, and were still being interrogated, were nabbed with Aye Confraternity vest, a bangle and cap with cowries.

Luck also ran out on Onoriodo Tukuru (26) Ukolor Godwin (20) and Friday Okoroko (29) as they were caught the same night with Aye Confraternity black berets.

Similarly, at about 3a.m on July 8, the QRS operatives nabbed Michael Okwalogun (28) of No. 7 Nofoma Street, off Macdemot road, Warri in connection with cult activities.

Okwalogun was also caught with a black Aye Confraternity beret while plying his nocturnal trade.

Earlier on July 8 at about 11:30p.m, the QRS operatives had arrested another set of cult suspects namely Ovoh John (24) who was caught with Aye Confraternity singlet, and 22-year-old Tracy Okhotare.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Delta State Police Command, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the arrests and confession of the suspects to be members of the cult group, said the command had commenced a full scale war against all criminals, especially cultists, in the state.

    Nice to arrests in the home area of Black Axe leader Oritsebemigho Eyeoyibo. Hopefully someone will go visit him soon in Lagos at the Roseview Court Hotel.
