Abia Police arrests student cultists

October 6, 2015, Johnson Alabi

The Nigerian Police Force, Aba Area Command in collaboration with Abia State Polytechnic’s security personnel have arrested four students of the polytechnic suspected to be members of top secret cults; Aye and Vikings.

The Police also foiled an attempted clash between both fraternities which could obstruct the ongoing exams and other academic activities in the institution.

According to the Police, the arrest was as a result of a tip off, which prompted a raid on the home of one of the suspects, Umahi and allegedly recovered a locally made Pistol with a round of live ammunition.

Reports have it that the students made confessional statements of their membership to the two cult fraternities even as they added that efforts were on to apprehend other members of the gang that are at large.

As at the time of filing this report, security has been beefed up within the campus after the incidence to forestall any breakdown of law and order within the period of the exam duration which they said would end on or before the month of October.

The suspects includes Umahi Emeka Titus, 21-year-old ND final student of Statistics Department, Obiyor Darlington Chinoso, 25 year-old HND I Accountancy student, Augustin, 28-year-old HND I Computer Science student and Ochoma MacDonald, 28-year-old, a graduate of Computer Science.
